Discussion GroupThe Discussion Group meets monthly to exchange ideas and thoughts about a wide range of subjects, including current issues - both local and international, and spend time learning about a particular country. Seven very knowledgeable members attended our June meeting, and each attendee was asked to speak about the last book they had read. The books included Rambling Man by Billy Connelly, Legacy of Empire by Gardner Thompson, The Spanish Armada by Rupert Matthews, The Collector by Daniel Silva, Lightning Ridge by Ion Idress, and The Waiting by Michael Connelly. Our members obviously have a wide range of tastes in reading. A wide-ranging discussion on how to improve our treatment of indigenous peoples followed. As often stated, this is an Interest Group where the more you put in, the more you will get out of it. We would love to see some more participants, so why not give it a try. Our next meeting will commence at 9.30am on Wednesday 9th July in the small front meeting room of the Balwyn Community Centre 412 Whitehorse Road Balwyn (Melway 46 F8). Amongst other things, we will discuss Japan, and members will be asked to talk about their favourite movie. Remember, it is necessary to be a member of the Community Centre ($16.00).
