Discussion GroupThe Discussion Group meets monthly to exchange ideas and thoughts about a wide range of subjects, including current issues - both local and international, and spend time learning about a particular country. Seven very erudite members attended our July meeting. The major topic of discussion was Japan, and we were very fortunate in that five of our number had actually visited that country. Each of the five were asked to give their impression of Japan as a tourist destination. Unsurprisingly, the responses varied greatly from “wouldn’t go again” to being highly impressed. Japan is currently undergoing a fairly severe crisis. Its population is both decreasing and ageing but it is still the world’s fifth largest economy. For our next meeting, members are asked to read up on Sri Lanka any and anything else that comes to mind. Come along and be educated and amused. Remember it is necessary to be a member of the Community Centre ($16.00).
