  • Writing for Pleasure Group

The Writing for Pleasure Group members share a passion for the written word and cultivate their writing skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. They receive constructive feedback from experienced mentors and delve into the depths of various writing genres.

We had all our regular attendees at our May meeting.  As usual some great work was presented.

Nicki Berzkalns wrote of modern times using language that only Kath and Kim could understand. Owen Clark wrote an amusing piece about a friend’s last (?) holiday and a thought-provoking contribution likening the story of “the Garden of Eden” to our journey from naivety to maturity.

Frank Foley submitted an exceptional poem called “Battleground”. You will find it later in this Bulletin.

Dieter Markworth gave a very personal account of his relationship with his mother. Very moving! Beth Coote told a story of how to make a dollar grow. She ran concerts in her home. Over two years, the $1 entry fee became $200, which went to deserving charities. Finally, in Part 47, Sid and Jean welcome more relatives to England.  While modern day Sid and Aggie begin their voyage.

As stated in earlier Bulletins, this is a small group that works well but we would love to see a bigger attendance and get some fresh ideas. I am sure that we have members who are capable of, figuratively, “putting pen to paper”. To participate does involve some commitment, but we are more than happy for you just to come and listen and pass comment.

So come along and “give it a go”. I am sure that you will enjoy it. The meeting will commence at 9.30am.
