Music Appreciation Group

The Music Appreciation Group meets every second month.

Member enjoy two hours of a different music genre every meeting - classics, show tunes, music with a particular theme, songs from a particular decade, etc., together with background information about the composers, performers and songs.

The theme for the July meeting will be "The Great American Songbook".

The presentation will include a variety of genres - ragtime, Dixieland, blues, big band swing, standards and show tunes - from 1902 to 1945, and compositions by some of America's greatest composers and songwriters, including George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, Scott Joplin, and W. C. Handy.
